Rules for  AstroWorld Image of the Week(IOTW),  Month (IOTM) and Image of the Year Contests

 

1. Image entry period begins every week on Saturday at 8:00 AM Eastern concluding Tuesday at 7:00 AM Eastern unless previously informed on this webpage.

2. Effective July 15, 2023,  in order to keep optimal performance ALL SUBMISSIONS must adhere to the following requirements or will not qualify:

  • Maximum Resolution: 72 pixels/inch

  • Maximum Image Size: 1200 x 800

  • Submitted in WEBP format.

Applications such as PIXINSIGHT, Adobe Photoshop, and free online WEBP image conversion tools are available on the internet.

Thank you for your understanding and support. 

3. Images must be your composition and utilize your equipment(No rental scopes). Please include a description of the image, including star catalog designation and imaging equipment used.

4. Voting begins at 8:00 AM Wednesday and ends at 9:30 PM Friday (Eastern Time).

5. Winners will be announced on the Friday Live Show.

6. Photographers can have more than one winning IOTW per calendar year.  However, photographers may have only one winning Image of the Month.

  •          6a. If you win more than one IOTM  per contest year, you may choose the image that will be added to the annual calendar.

  •          6b. The IOTM runner-up will be selected as the winner for the respective month.

  •          6c. However, In the event of a tie for the IOTM, both winning images will share the month with their images featured side by side in the calendar. 

  •         6d. If there is only one entry in the weekly contest, that entry wins by default and moves on to the monthly contest.

7.  Image of the Month (IOTM) will be selected from all the current month’s Image of the Week winners and will be announced on the 3rd Friday of the month.

8.  AstroWorld Image of the Year will be announced on the Third Wednesday in January.

9. All IOTM-winning images will be featured in the annual AstroWorld Photo Calendar for their respective winning month.

10. Only eligible Image of the Month entries will be entered for Image of the Year.

11. The member with the most winning IOTW entries and the Image of the Year winner will receive a fabulous prize!
